Nellore snooker player Pandurangaiah going places

Ranked as No. 2 snooker player in India, the 27-year-old E. Pandurangaiah of Nellore gave a tough fight to the former world champion Shaun Murphy in the qualifying round of the Indian Open world ranking snooker tournament on 12th Sep.

Earlier, he shot into limelight with his stunning performance in the senior nationals final where he lost to the champion Pankaj Advani in February this year. 

Pandurangaiah lost his father when he was young and his mother (Venkatamma) brought him up working as an attendant in a Nellore. He had to discontinue education after second standard. Pandu learnt playing snooker 15 years back while working in a snooker parlour in Nellore. He started his professional career in 2008 and bagged 5 state championships and 14 runner-up trophies.

He now works with South Central Railways (SCR) and gets trained at the RRC club under coach S Simhachalam. Known as Pandu to his friends, Pandurangaiah is now aiming for a gold medal in the upcoming Asian Games.
