TV Ramana Reddy – Famous Telugu cinema comedian from Nellore

Noted Telugu actor and comedian Tikkavarapu Venkata Ramana Reddy, popularly known as Nelluru Ramana Reddy, was born on 1st October, 1921 in Jagadevipeta in Indukuripeta mandal of SPSR Nellore district.

He has debuted in 1951 with the film Mayapilla directed by R. S. Prakash. He is best known for his work in Telugu cinema in the 1950s and 1960s. He has played many roles opposite N.T. Rama Rao and A.N.R. Some of his memorable roles are David in Missamma and Chinnamayya in Mayabazar (1957).

He worked as a sanitary inspector before becoming an actor. He is good at magic. He used to perform magic shows and helped many voluntary organizations. He breathed his last on 11th November, 1974.




  1. Ramana Reddy’s first movie was Manavathi produced by another Nellorian Mr. A. Sankar Reddy.
    He has not even acted in “Maya Pilla” as recorded wrongly by some film historian.

    His surname is “Thikkavarapu”
